đź’Ś Teri Says Hi đź‘‹

Hey friend,

It's been a few weeks.

Maybe you were wondering, "did Teri already lose interest in these newsletters?" or "Did Teri forget about us?" or maybe (quite possibly) you didn't even notice at all.

Well, I made a BIG mistake a few weeks ago and lost my email list. Yup, lost it. Gone.

It took a couple of weeks to recover it fully, and then it wouldn't send my newsletter.

But I'm back, and here you go with a new edition of Teri says hi.

In this edition:

  • Podcast recap: How do you measure happiness?
  • Upcoming events: There are some goodies here...
  • Binge-worthy: real-talk on positive thinking
  • Teri's top 5: random stuff I'm liking
  • One more thing: because I have lots to share. Bonus points if you get the Steve Jobs reference.

How Do You Measure Happiness?

Let’s talk about happiness.
Not the Pinterest-quote kind, but the real, lived-in kind.

Because the truth is—most of us say we want to be happy, but we’ve never defined what that actually means for us.

Is it peace? Purpose? Progress? Is it having buy-a-yacht-kind-of-money?

And is it the same as fulfillment? (Spoiler: not quite.)

If you've ever chased a goal thinking that’ll make me happy—only to arrive and still feel... meh? This one's for you.

What you'll hear:

  • The difference between happiness and fulfillment

  • How to track the moments that actually feel good—so you can create more of them

  • Why chasing a goal won’t work unless you’re clear on what you're really after

  • Practical tools to help you redefine your happiness baseline

 Rethinking Positive Thinking

Let’s talk about the word positive thinking.

It gets thrown around a lot, as if all you have to do is think positively and life magically sorts itself out.

But I'm going to confess something here... I hate positive thinking.

Yup, I said it.

I'm a coach who hates "positive thinking".

I'll go a step further... I believe the cult-like positive thinking movement has done more harm than good. And here's why...

When I work with clients as a High Performance Coach, I need them to speak freely about what's going on internally. That means, the good, the bad and the ugly.

But so many people have been taught to be "good positive thinkers" that they won't let themselves even say the things they need to say. They filter themselves. Often, they'll even cover their mouth and say "oh, I almost said something negative".

Here's the truth:  just because you don't say it, doesn't mean you're not thinking it. And just because you've been taught to use positive words, doesn't mean you're not having negative thoughts and feelings.

As a Trainer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Trainer of Hypnotherapy, I need my clients to say the things they NEED to say so that I can understand what's really going on.

And then together, we can change it.

🌟 Teri’s Top 5

Totally random. Always honest. Here’s what I’m loving lately:

  1. Book:  re-reading When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron

  2. TV: We just binged the new season of the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and it was worth every second.

  3. App: Notion – content calendar, journal, brain space. I'm still figuring out how to use it, but so far I'm liking it.

  4. Quote I’m living by:
“Be stubborn about your goals, but flexible about your methods.” -Jeremy Burrows

  5. Late-night rabbit hole: Tiny home tours I’ll never move into

Don't quit. You're closer than you think.
💌 Teri says hi.   Hey friend, Let’s get real for a minute. You know that moment when it feels like nothing is working? Not because they weren’t capable—but because the discomfort got loud and they thoug...
